Eight months ago I began my personal journey in improving my health. Why? Because the cost of Health Care Insurance is unbelievable. The first aspect in my health I am tackling is losing weight. How did I ever balloon to 289 pounds? Probably because I indulged and indulged. You know, inhaling a dozen doughnuts and not the doughnut holes. heeee heeee
In five months I was so thrilled to have lost 33 pounds. Successful weight loss is a combination of changing your diet, exercise and attitude. These are the a couple of steps I used:
- Starting each meal with a mixed green SALAD. That's right greenery. Firstly, how colorful can you make your salad by adding goodies, green or red peppers, nuts, mandarin oranges, purple onions INSTEAD of using calorie intent dressings. This will not only help get your vegetable serving, but it also cuts your appetite and you will eat less of the main (often calorie laden) entree.
- When eating out, ask for your TO GO box immediately. Before you even begin munching down on that steak, cut it in half along with the side dish. Put them in the TO GO box. You will cut calories immediately and have another meal for later. This also saves you money!
- Do some type of an exercise or activity for at least 30 minutes a day. This can be walking, jogging, riding a bike, playing tennis. JUST DO SOME TYPE of an activity. Dance with your vacuum, dance while dusting. Be creative. (Begin in small time increments and build up. Remember you crawled before you walked!)
- Stay positive. A positive outlook on life is one of the major characteristics of healthy people. Focus on the good in life, what is going right, and let the negative thoughts pass you by.
- Drink water. Have two glasses of water BEFORE a glass of wine. Your body is flushed thoroughly by drinking more and more water. Yes, it is a pain to go to the bathroom over and over. BUT that is a good thing for you.
- Lastly, take baby steps with all the ideas above. One change at a time will allow the next breakthrough
